Warm Up Your Space With These Decor Trends

A house becomes a home when it is filled with lots of love, laughter, and warmth, of course. Warm up your space with these decor trends

After a long day out in the cold, it is a dream to come home to a wonderfully cosy space. Winter may be at our doors, but that does not mean we need to bring it into our homes. There are plenty of tips and tricks to add warmth into our spaces and create a warmer living environment.

Using warm tones in a room can create a space that is very welcoming; it helps to ease you and makes you feel comfortable. When applying warmer tones throughout your house, think of the space in its entirety and consider all the elements of the room. Having a fireplace in the living room is a great feature for adding warmth besides its obvious flame and heat benefit. Consider adding rust-brown colours throughout  your interior, such as throw pillows or rugs. A warm cream also pairs well with these shades, and you can incorporate this colour by painting the walls and adding some texture and dimension with fabrics.

Lighting is a wonderful way to add a cosy and elevated feel to the room. Great lighting can create depth and height, and draws attention to your most impressive areas. To create ambience, consider using dimmer switches to your lights that will help adjust the lighting from low to intense, depending on your mood.

The use of wood elements in your home can also add a sense of calm and peacefulness. The best way to incorporate wood on a larger scale would be to use it as a back drop or focal point in the room. Floors, bigger wooden furniture pieces and wooden panelling are great ways of including wood, no matter the shade. It breaks up the room and can create the illusion of a bigger space. Mixing wood elements can be tricky, but if done correctly can heighten the room’s design. It is often best to match your furniture with the floor boards, but if you do wish to mismatch, then make sure the wood colours are complimentary. Breaking up  the wood with a colourful throw blanket or patterned carpet can also play in your favour.
