Our Fave Local Coffee Shops

Tired of your regular coffee hangout spot and want to try something different? Then look no further!  We’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite coffee shops in South Africa that are definitely worth visiting.

 

Cape Town 

1. Giovanni’s Deliworld 

Giovanni’s Deliworld is a vibey authentic Italian Deli in Cape Town that serves a delicious cup of coffee (100% Arabica blend), tasty deli food and a variety of imported goods that you would struggle to find elsewhere. It’s constantly packed with regulars, tourists, and has an overall great atmosphere. 

Where to find it: 103, Main Road, Green Point, Cape Town

2. Truth Coffee

Truth Coffee is a steampunk, industrial-chic styled café in Cape Town with incredible decor including a vintage roaster as the centrepiece. It is known for serving premium coffee and delicious treats.

Where to find it:  36 Buitenkant St, Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town

3. Against The Grain

Against the grain is a spacious contemporary cafe in the Bo-Kaap with a relaxing atmosphere. The décor consists of bottle green and light green accents, wooden tables and black iron chairs.They serve a good cup of coffee, the most delicious koeksisters and a variety of other tasty foods such as bagels.

Johannesburg

1. Bean There Coffee Roastery 

Bean There Coffee Company is South Africa’s  first Certified Fairtrade coffee roaster which is one of the many reasons you should support them. It has a Scandinavian, modern theme and a nice quiet atmosphere as many people go there to work.

Where to find it: 44 Stanley Avenue, Milpark, Johannesburg.

2. Arbour Cafe and Courtyard

Arbour Cafe and Courtyard in the 011 is a whimsical and elegant modern French café and crêperie known for their buckwheat galettes (savoury French pancakes), Belgian hot chocolate and, of course, tasty coffee. 

Where to find it: 64 St Andrew Street, Birdhaven, Johannesburg


3. Motherland Coffee Company

Motherland coffee company is a funky coffee shop that serves fair-trade and sustainably produced coffee from Rwanda and Ethiopia. The decor consists of  comfortable  couches and wooden tree stumps for coffee tables.  They serve a variety of different foods including wraps and sandwiches but the stand out is definitely their coffee

Durban 

1. Freedom Cafe

Freedom Cafe is a quirky coffee shop in Durban made up of shipping containers. You can choose to sit inside of them or outside on comfy chairs under trees. It serves trendy healthy food and has a generally relaxing vibe. 

Where to find it: 43 St Mary’s Ave, Greyville, Durban

2. Treat Cafe

Treat Cafe, situated within the Talloula wedding resort, is the perfect café to visit if you want to be adventurous in Durban and don’t want to go to some random cafe in the city. They serve a variety of different trendy foods like a mushroom-bun burger which you can eat in the beautiful garden or inside.
