KZN Midlands Activities And More

The KZN midlands is abundant with crafters, shops, studios, eateries, drinking holes and
activities, all surrounded by tranquil scenery for us to enjoy

The midlands is essentially a farming region, starting at the town of Hilton and tapping off before Escort to the north, stretching westwards to the Kamberg Nature Reserve and eastwards to the Karkloof Nature Reserve. This bucolic expanse is home to a thriving artisan community mapped on the midlands meander routes that spiral off the N3 highway, making it an easy, rewarding way to spend a weekend.

Activities Galore
The Midlands landscape presents multiple settings for the adventurous who love pushing their boundaries. From mountain biking, horse riding, clay-pigeon shooting and zip lining, to trout fishing and horse whispering, the adrenalin junkie is definitely well-catered for here. For those who prefer more relaxed leisure time, there’s wine tasting at Abingdon Wine Estate and Kleinbosch, cheese tasting and some sweet temptations at Chocolate Heaven. Not to mention a luxurious spa treatment at Fordoun that is sure to have you relaxed and at peace in no time.

WHERE TO STAY

Depending on the experience you crave, Airbnbs are plentiful in this area, which allow you to feel a home away from home type of experience. If that isn’t your call, consider a guest lodge or hotel that is better suited to your needs:

Lastingham Guest Lodge

Caversham Hall
Perfect for a group of friends on a weekend getaway, Caversham Hall is an old English country house situated on 40 ha of grassland and forests with a lake.

Sycamore Avenue Treehouses
Looking to spoil your partner with a romantic getaway? Sycamore Avenue Treehouses is the place. Here your room is six metres up in a treetop, complete with its own jacuzzi and fireplace. Dreamy.
