Getting to know Black Coffee

Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, proves that local is always lekker. The house DJ and Joburg local has been flying the proudly South African flag high abroad for the past couple of years. He’s collaborated with artists such as rap sensation Drake, grammy winning artist Alicia Keys and R&B singer Cassie. He was recently named as one of the continents highest paid entertainers by Forbes Africa. He’s always rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous (he was snapped in studio with Akon and Pharrell) and is pretty much besties with American rapper and businessman P.Diddy. At the rate he’s going, getting to know Black Coffee was bound to happen.

Sorry ladies! He’s taken. The Dj recently married the actress Enhle Mbali. The couple celebrated their union with a fairytale white wedding at Sun City. Black Coffee understands the power of social media and uses it to share images with his fans, keep them updated on his current collaborations and to build his brand. His Instagram is a reflection of his dreamy life.

He scooped up an award for Best Deep House DJ at the 2017 DJ Awards which honours DJs and the electronic music industry. He landed his own show on Apple Beats 1 Radio and recently announced a residency in Las Vegas for 2018. The sauve producer is set to play at the upcoming Coachella festival. It’s safe to say that his year has certainly been off to a great start.

How do you like your coffee? The DJ likes having his around the world. The jetsetter owns property in the states and is always travelling. One of his favourite destinations is Capri on the Isle of Naples in Italy known for its overwhelmingly beautiful landscape. His soulful mixes are a mixture of jazzy, moody and tropical tunes that are a worldy mix of music that can be listened to at the club or while chilling poolside by a cabana.
