5 minutes with radio presenter Tamara Snow

Tamara Snow is a vibrant radio presenter, entrepreneur and mother. Her passion for radio started at a very young age and it’s safe to say she saw that passion through with being on one of Cape Town’s biggest Radio Stations. Today we dive in to learn a little more about her and what’s in her beauty bag!

What is a typical day in the life of Tamara Snow?

I start my day around 5am either by meditating for an hour or listening to an inspirational podcast. My go-to right now is anything by Wayne Dyer or Oprah’s Super Soul podcast! I refer to this time as my Holy Hour. It’s a time of connecting with myself and an opportunity to set the tone for the day. Then, I usually go for a run or do a HIIT session on Zoom from the comfort of my lounge before I prep my meals for the day.

At about 9am I respond to emails and prepare for the day ahead which can include meetings with brands, photo shoots, content creation sessions, voice-over recordings for clients, etc. During the week I present news and traffic on Good Hope FM’s The Great Drive with a crazy bunch of people who have become like family to me over the last year.

In the evenings I love to experiment in the kitchen and wind down with a good series on Netflix.

Do you have a beauty icon?

Definitely Jennifer Lopez, need I say more? She’s my fashion, beauty, everything icon.

Five things that are always in your bag?

  • Headphones
  • Lip butter
  • Almond, vanilla or coconut scented hand cream
  • Sugar-free gum
  • Samsung Buds

Do you wear make-up every day? If so, what make-up look is your go-to?

I don’t wear make-up every day. I’ve worked really hard on improving the condition of my skin and I love where it’s at now. I usually wear make-up one or two days of the week, in which case I like more of a natural look with neutral tones and a pair of my favourite lashes.

Do you know your skin type? We see you’ve been on quite the skin journey over the last few months – Can you tell us about that?

I’ve got combination skin and have tried so many things over the years to help with breakouts and to even my skin tone. Nothing really worked until I decided to call in the big guns! I started my skincare journey with Renascent Health about a year ago and have seen such an improvement since then. I go for a facial every six weeks – I swear by their vampire (Platelet Rich Plasma therapy) and the Fire & Ice facials! They also helped tailor my skincare routine and introduced me to iS Clinical which is my holy grail of homecare products. My journey to happier, healthier skin has come with a shift in lifestyle, too. I’m much more mindful about what I put into my body and how often I exercise. It’s all worked hand-in-hand.

Your top skincare tip?

There are so many to choose from but I’d have to go with sunscreen. Come rain or shine, always make sure you protect your skin with a broad spectrum sunscreen.

Your dream destination holiday?

There are so many places I want to visit! Right now at the top of my list is Bali. I’m so ready for my Eat, Pray, Love moment.

Blush or Bronzer?

Definitely bronzer.

What do you love about being a radio presenter?

I am so grateful that I get to do what I love. Being a radio presenter has been a dream of mine ever since I can remember. The best part of my job is that I get to connect with people across all walks of life and be part of making their day a bit brighter – that warms my heart.

Your favourite food?

Not much beats a good lamb curry!

It’s date night. What is your go-to lip colour and fragrance?

Date night calls for a pop of colour, so a red lip along with my favourite fragrance, Gucci Flora.

Can you leave our wonderful readers with a motivational message?

Remember, there will always be someone who underestimates you. Don’t let that someone be you. Know that whatever comes across your path, you’ve got the tools to navigate it and even better, the opportunity to learn from it.
