Our Favorite Tech and Non Tech Gadgets

Gadgets, whether they be technological or not, that make our life easier, are truly the best

MICROSOFT SURFACE LAPTOP GO 2

What do you get when you distill down the essence of a Surface laptop? An accurate trackpad, a crisp touchscreen (with PixelSense technology), excellent battery life? Yes on all three counts. Microsoft ratchets up the specifications to the tried-and-tested Intel 11th Generation Core i5, turns the Windows version up to 11 and coated the aluminium case in a choice of two hues that will stand out from the coffee shop crowd.

SUPA FLY MINI DC UPS

It’s called an uninterruptible power supply because you’re supposed to plug it into a power supply on one end and then plug the other
into your router, so when the power goes off, the internet stays on without a blip. This unit can do that over DC connection and power over ethernet (POE) that could keep your security camera running as well. But there’s also a USB outlet for charging your phone, maybe… And no one said you can’t travel with a fully powered battery pack.

FUJIFILM X-H2S

Fujifilm corrected all of the original X-H1 flaws for the biggest camera model glow-up in tech history. A new 26 MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HS sensor and X-Processor 5 brings support for internal 4:2:2 10-bit video recording at up to 6.2 K (30 frames per second) or 4 K/120 p for the speed demons. Not sure what that means? It’s now finally great for video, that’s what. And the autofocus system is now backed by Deep Learning to better identify a wide range of subjects so your next picture of your cat is gonna look epic.

EMBER CUP

What do we want? Warm coffee. When do we want it? An hour after we made it because we were too busy to drink it when it was hot. Ember has heard the pleas, and crafted a mug that lets you set your preferred drinking temperature and keeps your hot drink ready to sip for up to 90 minutes. You can stretch it to a full 24 hours if you put it on the charging coaster. Angels walk among us.

WEBER TRAVELLER

Think about it: a portable braai. But not in the lame way where you still have to worry about a table or elevated surface to put it on. No, a folding portable gas braai that you can wheel around like luggage at an airport and quickly set-up to the perfect height. Just add your own gas bottle.
